Clinical Review of Fractures

Abstract
984 patients with fractures who were admitted or ambulated to the Dep¢¥t of Orthopedic Surgery in Chonnam University Hospital from January 1957 to May 1962 have been reviewed.
A study of this fractured patients reveals that fractures of shaft of the femur occurred most often, 11per cent relative frequency(112/1,000), of distal end of the humerus were second with a 10per cent relative frequency (100/1,000), the rib and Colles¢¥ fractures with approximately the same totals, are next least frequency.
Teh upper and lower extremities are more exposed and mobile than the less exposed and better protected spine and trunk and the frequeny of tracture both closed and open, is therefore greater for the extremities than for spine and trunk.
While the fracture under 20 years of age occupies nearly half of all fraqctures, 437(44%), that of over 51-years is only 134(14%) contrary to our belief that in that old age, factors such as ostepoprpsis might result in a higher incidence of fracture.
